We are governed by the same ethics of strict confidentiality that apply to all psychological records. We will not release results of testing, or even acknowledge that we have had any contact with you, without your written permission.
Generally, only our written report of your evaluation is released to those you elect. Raw test scores are released only to a person with training in their interpretation, since their misinterpretation can be detrimental to you.
There are, of course, limits to this confidentiality. Exceptions are listed below. Even when faced with these exceptions, the minimum information possible is released.
If you make statements indicating that you are a danger to yourself or others, we are obligated to take steps to ensure the safety of all concerned. This can involve the disclosure of some information without your consent.
If you provide information indicating child abuse or abuse of an elderly or dependent adult, we are obligated to notify the authorities.
If the fee for your evaluation is billed to an insurance company or other agency, it may be necessary to send a copy of the report to them to secure payment.
Also, records may be released under court order. |
